Music is what connects us to our passions, our spirit. Dance is how we see music. The Dancer shows us how to connect to our passions, our soul.
Neylan (aka Angela Wimmer) holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has training in ballet and modern dance. She was introduced to Middle Eastern Dance while working for The Renaissance Faire of the Midlands in Council Bluffs Iowa. Intrigued by the serpentine movements and sensual rhythms, she began her study of this beautiful dance form.
Upon relocating to Massachusetts in 2000, she began studying with Sabra Jamal of Rhode Island and joined the Arabian Village Dance Troupe in 2001. She is one of the founding members of Troupe Nasib which performed in the Providence area for 2 years before disbanding. She also has worked as a solo artist through out New England. Neylan began teaching and choreographing belly dance in 2003. Shortly after, she formed Daughters of Neylan, a student level performance troupe that gave an avenue for new dancers to break into the performance arena.
In 2004, she began to study Tribal Style Belly Dance and American Tribal Style Belly Dance. In 2006 she founded Dobersheik Dames Tribal Dance Collective, and became facilitator for the New England branch of Public Urban Ritual Experiment (P.U.R.E) and international dance collective.
Improvisational Tribal Belly Dance with Neylan
Tribal Belly Dance is a dance of connection between dancers as they
move together in group improvisation, blending seamlessly to look like
choreography. Tribal incorporate flavors of traditional belly dance, indian,
flamenco, and north african dance. This class will focus on basic posture,
isolation, combinations, and group improvisation. It will help develop
confidence for both group performers or soloists and build a community
between participants. Tribal Belly dance is a beautiful and fun way to
express your personal expression while becoming part of a deeper and
magical experience.
