World Of Neylan

Neylan holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has training in ballet and modern dance. She was introduced to Middle Eastern Dance while working for The Renaissance Faire of the Midlands in Council Bluffs Iowa. Intrigued by the serpentine movements and sensual rhythms, she began her study of this beautiful dance form.

Upon relocating to Massachusetts in 2000, she began studying with Sabra Jamal at Perishable Theater and joined Arabian Village Dance Troupe in 2001.  She is one of the founding members of Troupe Nasib which performed in the Providence area for 2 years before disbanding.  She also has worked as a solo artist through out New England at numerous venues including La Camilia and Effendi’s.

Neylan began teaching and choreographing belly dance in 2003.  Shortly after, she formed Daughters of Neylan, a student level performance troupe that gave an avenue for new dancers to break into the performance arena.  The Daughters restructured in 2008 into Blue Moon Caravan and now are currently performing in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

She founded  Dobersheik Dames Tribal Dance Collective along with long time dance friend Haleema. A continual ebb and flow of creative ideas between it's members, the Dames blend Middle Eastern dance, Tribal belly dance, Flamenco, and Gypsy style performances into a unique experience each time they come to the stage. Their rich improvisations allow it's members to converse with each other and the audience.

She is also the facilitator for the New England branch of Public Urban Ritual Experiment (P.U.R.E) and international dance collective.
